Johannesburg - Three men were arrested on Sunday morning for theft and food to the value of about R300 000 Johannesburg metro police say.

Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said police spotted a truck and trailer parked in the bushes near the Olifantsfontein Road and the Old Pretoria Main Road in Midrand after 01:00.

"Upon closer inspection they found three men who were in the process of off-loading groceries which included baby food, pampers, and roll-on to the value of approximately R300 000," Minnaar said.

"This was being off-loaded from the truck and trailer to a Nissan hardbody. The owner of the truck and trailer was a contractor driver for the Spar chain stores. All three the men were arrested on the scene."

Minnaar said the men would appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of theft.
