Welkom - Three people have been arrested in Theunissen, 60km south of Welkom, for possession of stolen goods, Free State police said on Tuesday.

After receiving a tip-off, police searched two houses in Tshepong section and found two undocumented plasma televisions, said Captain Stephen Thakeng.

The two TV's owners, a 31-year-old and 39-year-old woman, were both arrested and the TVs seized.

The women told police they had bought the TVs from a house in the area.

Police searched the house after being given permission by its owner, a 32-year-old man. The search led to the discovery of a hidden plasma TV and laptop.

The man was also arrested after failing to provide documentation for the items, Thakeng said.

The three televisions and the laptop seized by police were valued at R35 000.

The two women and man were expected to appear in the Theunissen Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

While not condoning theft, I find it a bit disturbing that I could be arrested anytime. I'd be lying if I said I knew where to find the documents for my laptop, even though I bought it from game.

Case will be withdrawn. The onus is on the state to prove the items were stolen. This can never be done unless they have serial numbers that were reported when the items were stolen. The truth is that no one documents serial numbers and reports this to the Police. So we as the Tax Payers will have to foot another Wrongful Arrest Lawsuit.

In the Free State? Hhmmm! I wonder if it was stolen before the Cheetahs's match or after. If before: At first the real owner would have been pissed, but after knowing the match outcome maybe happy he could not see it. The thieves could have looked forward to the match on the plasma, but afterwards regretted that they stole a tv. LOL!!! A hart-sore Cheetah supporter.
