3 bank robbers die in shootout

Bloemfontein - Three bank robbers were killed in a shootout with police in a mielie field outside Hertzogville on Tuesday, and two others were arrested, said Free State police.

Inspector Loraine Kalp said the shootout came after a bank in neighbouring Dealesville was robbed of a substantial sum of money.

Kalp said: "About 09:30 four armed men entered a bank at Dealesville and demanded money."

The robbers took the money and fled in a vehicle.

Outside town, the robbers changed cars and continued fleeing towards Hertzogville.

Man caught in roadside

Kalp said that after all surrounding police stations had been alerted, the robbers' car was spotted and forced off the road just outside Hertzogville.

Kalp said one of the men was arrested at the roadside.

The others "fled into a nearby maize field, which was condoned off and there was a shootout."

Another suspect was arrested and the money was seized.

Kalp said two men would appear in court on charges of armed robbery.

If you think the march was only against the murderers then you're really naive. The placards were clearly blaming blacks and rallying white people against a common black enemy - why do you think it was covered in the media? . How is that different from how Malema incites his followers? As much as I find those murders sick, I find it even sicker that it is used to pit white against black. Protesting against crime, yes I get that. Taking a firm stance against violence? sure. Using the same tactics as ET? Not so much. And if you look at the irony of your comments, it's a mirror image of black ANC racists denouncing black people in the DA as political sell-outs to the whites masters. This march HAS become politicised, and it has thrown fuel on racial tension, so someone HAS to say "hey! This is not the way we should do things". And if that gets you votes then it means more people feel the same and want to tackle issues in a different manner. That brings me hope. Read the article...
