3 fires, 20 hurt in Joburg

Johannesburg - Three fires and a number of injuries were reported here on New Year's Eve, the emergency services said on Wednesday night.
The services' Malcolm Midgely said that a house caught alight in Witpoortjie near Roodepoort, after fireworks released by New year's revellers.
The details were still sketchy, Midgely said.
No information was available about the third fire.
Meanwhile, the emergency services team at Malvern fire station were treating 20 patients who were injured in a number of different assaults, said Midgely.
