Polokwane - Three men wanted on a string of theft and robbery charges were arrested after they held up a shop near Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Sunday.
They confronted the Pakistani shop owner in Ga-Sekororo at gunpoint and stole cash, airtime vouchers and cellphones on Friday morning, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said in a statement.
They fled in a white BMW but were stopped and arrested on the R36 near Letsitele. Three unlicensed 9mm pistols and 14 rounds of ammunition were recovered. The car had been reported stolen in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, two weeks ago.
One of the men, aged 30, had three cases of armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms pending in Gauteng and Limpopo.
The other, aged 32, had a case of theft pending.
The third man, aged 36, was out on parole for a robbery case in Tembisa, Gauteng.
All three had been linked to several armed robberies in Limpopo. They were expected to appear in the Naphuno Magistrate's Court on Monday.
