3 held in KZN for Ethiopian's murder

Johannesburg - Three men have been arrested in Creighton for the murder of a missing Ethiopian man, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.

They were arrested at 09:00 on Saturday for kidnapping and murdering Thomas Tamerat Iban, 30, said Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge.

"Iban went missing three weeks ago after he went to Mahehle in Creighton to collect money owed to him," he said.

Police later found Iban's car abandoned in Donnybrook.

One of the men arrested had volunteered to show the police where Iban's body was, said Mdunge.

The body was found in a stream at a local plantation. Iban's legs and hands were tied, he said.

Police were searching for a fourth man believed to have been involved.

Mdunge said the three men faced charges of kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder, and would appear in the Ixopo Magistrate's Court on Monday.
