Johannesburg - Three men appeared in the Ottosdal Magistrate's Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of farmer André van der Merwe, the national prosecuting authority (NPA) said.
The three men were named as Thabo Matlhoko, 25, Diphapanang Paul Kwa-Kwa, 29, and Shadrack Thapelo Smith, 29, said North West spokesperson Frank Lesenyego.
He said the case had been postponed for further investigation to next Tuesday.
The three men were being charged with murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm and ammunition, Lesenyego said.
They were arrested on a farm near Ottosdal on Saturday night when they allegedly shot Van der Merwe and dragged his body behind his vehicle for 1.2km.
