2011-05-03 23:04

Johannesburg - Three men appeared in the Ottosdal Magistrate's Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of farmer André van der Merwe, the national prosecuting authority (NPA) said.

The three men were named as Thabo Matlhoko, 25, Diphapanang Paul Kwa-Kwa, 29, and Shadrack Thapelo Smith, 29, said North West spokesperson Frank Lesenyego.

He said the case had been postponed for further investigation to next Tuesday.

The three men were being charged with murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm and ammunition, Lesenyego said.

They were arrested on a farm near Ottosdal on Saturday night when they allegedly shot Van der Merwe and dragged his body behind his vehicle for 1.2km.

When will all this hatred end???? Towing someone behind a car is pure racial hatred, nothing else. Julius is singing kill the Boer and not only are they killing the boers, they are also torturing them, sick. Is life not difficult enough, most peole are just struggling to earn enough money to feed, clothe and house their families politicians and unemployed radicals are the ones causing these problems. Most whites dont want to go back to apartheid, we really dont care who sits on the park bench next to us or rides on the same bus or lives next door to us. We dont care what race our work colleagues are or whether our boss is black or white. What we do care about is that our kids still get a decent education (shouldnt you be concerned about that too?); we want to get the services that we pay for (as you seem to have access to a computer, I assume you can afford to and pay for services too); we dont want to feel insecure in our homes (surely your aspirations on being free of apartheid were the same). Most of us want a better life for ALL, not just for a few privelaged few who access to government tenders and lotto funds.

Well at least we can ask them if they were motivated by Malema's "kill the boer" song and put an end to the speculation

Why are the demographics of these farm murderers almost always the same? Is it possible to profile them without being lablled a racist?

  • Doublepost - 2011-05-04 13:12

Once again on the money, do I win a prize? The killers were black, who would have thought?! Let me guess, they are heroes right? For being the brave men that they are!

  • Barry - 2011-05-04 15:18

Why are so many of our farmers so brutally slain ? Methinks these farm murders are calculated and planned by a 3rd force. It is more like a "scorched earth" policy somebody has adopted and they try to make it look like it is criminals
