Johannesburg - Four people were arrested and a drug laboratory was closed down in Kelvin, Johannesburg, police said on Tuesday.
"We found 17 000 Mandrax tablets, equipment and chemicals used to manufacture drugs," said Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini.
"The value of the drugs and equipment is estimated at approximately R1.5m."
Members of the SA Revenue Service and the East Rand organised crime unit conducted the raid on Monday, following up information obtained earlier.
Three men, aged 53, 42 and 36, and a woman aged 24, were arrested at the scene.
Dlamini said police suspected one of the arrested criminals might have skipped bail for a similar offence.
Police raided the same house two years ago and seized drugs and equipment worth thousands of rands.
The four people arrested were expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate Court soon on charges of manufacturing and dealing in drugs, Dlamini said.
