Johannesburg - A bank robbery in Lusikisiki was revealed to be an apparent inside job, when two bank clerks, along with two other accomplices, were arrested for the crime, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

"The police received a call of a bank robbery on Friday and when they got there the robbers were gone," said Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela.

"Police viewed the cameras. They ended up arresting two clerks who worked at the bank and who were inside the bank [at the time]."

"Another two people were arrested in Mgobozana at around 18:00 and R1.2m was recovered. We discovered that they are working together."

He said police believed that there was more money outstanding and that more arrests would be made.
