Johannesburg - Four men were arrested shortly after they robbed a couple of their belongings and raped the woman in Umhlali, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.
A couple was approached and accosted by the men at knife-point along the N2 freeway on Saturday evening, said Colonel Jay Naicker.
"They then robbed their victims of all their belongings at knife point," he said.
The boyfriend managed to escape and fled to a garage where he contacted the police.
The men forced the woman into a nearby bush where they raped her.
Naicker said one of the four men was arrested after being found near the initial scene.
"He was found in possession of a cellphone belonging to one of the victims," he said.
Police then proceeded to Shakashead where they arrested the three other men.
They were charged for rape and robbery and are expected to appear in court soon.
