Johannesburg - Four people were killed after a helicopter crashed between Nelspruit and Lydenburg, paramedics said on Tuesday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said that paramedics arrived on scene to find that a helicopter with four occupants on board had crashed.

There were no survivors, Steinmann said.

Earlier, Beeld reported that the wreckage of a helicopter had been in the Lydenburg area.

The report said that a Robinson 44, a a four-seater light helicopter, went missing early on Monday between Witrivier and Grand Central Airport in Midrand, but it was unclear if the wreckage was of the missing helicopter.

The missing helicopter had four people on board.

Beeld said that police in the Lowveld were busy trying establish if the wreckage found was that of the missing helicopter or another crash site.
