4 family members killed in crash

2012-04-07 12:10

Durban - Four people were killed and two others seriously injured after a head-on collision on the N3 in Durban, paramedics said on Saturday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said a family of five were travelling along the N3 towards Pinetown at about 21:30 on Friday when their car collided with another vehicle.

Some of the injured were trapped in the twisted metal of the vehicles, while a 2-year-old girl and her mother were ejected through the front window, Botha said.

"Medics triaged the injured and found that the 2-year-old and three other family members died on impact. The mom was at the side of the road, several metres from the car and in a critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle was still trapped in the wreckage of his car - critically injured."

Botha said the Jaws of Life was used to free the people trapped inside the wreckage.

The two people were placed on ventilators and transported to various hospitals, he said.

In another accident in KwaZulu-Natal, five people were injured when their vehicle overturned on Saturday morning in Kwadengezi.

Botha said the driver of the bakkie, carrying churchgoers, lost control and overturned throwing off five people from the back.

Paramedics stabilised the people on the scene before they were transported to a nearby hospital, said Botha.

The whole thing is sad, what is your take on it

      Ngaka - 2012-04-07 13:15

I regard news24's comment site the only truest TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION/FORUM ever....people on this forum pour out their hearts, they say what they actually feel about one another and that cannot be wrong. So by stopping us from commenting,News24,you are simply saying pretend as if things are fine, just like the ANC led government is saying...HERE'S NEWS FOR YOU WE ARE HEALING.This hatred we are having towards each other will not be remedied with pretence...NO...we have to talk...LEAVE US ALONE NEWS24...FORWARD FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION FORWARD!!

      goyougoodthing - 2012-04-07 13:22

Well if you want peace best you start by voting for another party and putting Julius in handcuffs. Of all the people I know who are supposedly bright, the men especially can't admit that perhaps the ANC is not the best party at the moment. Their egos force them to vote for the party regardless. This makes them as racist as the thing they are trying to avoid because they are voting by race and not by what it correct. Until this changes, we are in trouble.

      Ngaka - 2012-04-07 13:32

@goodyouthing....I suspect you're working for news24 and are intentionally trying turn the issue I'm raising into something else.

      goyougoodthing - 2012-04-07 13:39

Not at all, my profile is pretty open, you can see where I come from. :-) These murders are bad fellow, I don't know what can be done. What do you think.

      Ngaka - 2012-04-07 13:56

I can't help but feel that I'm undergoing an IQ test or some kind of investigative process here....Be that as it may,I'll respond to your question....THESE SCUMBAGS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THESE MURDERS MUST BE HUNTED DOWN AND FACE THE FULL MIGHT OF THE LAW.

      goyougoodthing - 2012-04-07 14:11

I agree. The real question for me though is, why are they killing farmers? Who is doing it, locals or foreigners, what is their motive etc.

      Lacrimose - 2012-04-07 14:13

@News24 - you need a forum to a) explain about the vanishing comments and b) why certain articles become "closed for comment"

      Ngaka - 2012-04-07 14:18

finally somebody understand my line of argument...thank you Lacrimose.@goodyouthing....stop playing marygoround with me...are you bored or anything..come on don't do that.lol!!

      goyougoodthing - 2012-04-07 14:26

I think that the close forums when it gets heated. As a public forum News24 is responsible in some ways for things which are said. That said, why they removed my comment the other day I have no idea, I said if Zille is racist for refugee how cam Juju can say kill the boer etc...

      Ngaka - 2012-04-07 14:37

The answer to your question is simple,goodyouthing.....YOU WERE OUT OF ORDER....the article had nothing to do with Julius but Hellen, thus dragging Julius into it displayed shallowness on your part.

      Shoosh - 2012-04-07 15:27

@Ngaka -Stop being such a bigot. You want to open a forum for dialogue but object & twist the facts when goyougoodthing posts a comment that differs from your point of view.

      Lacrimose - 2012-04-07 16:19

Well maybe some comments are removed for being too rude or whatever but last night I posted about the laws of the road - nothing rude, just facts - and it was removed. I've seen similar comments (not rude, controversial, racist or that could in any way be misinterpreted) by other people also just vanish. I think they have a crazy bot that needs re-programming :)

      goyougoodthing - 2012-04-07 17:22

Listen here Ngaka, you want to know how to stop farm murders? Well then it has everything to do with that ignorant little turd Malema and his incitement to shoot the farmer.

      Twolips - 2012-04-08 11:13

News24 has a lot to learn about running an open forum. It is certainly not right to close down the comments on an article that is close to readers' hearts. On the other hand some of the comments on political articles have become so predictable and often so offensive and yet the comments section runs on and on and on.

the mother and two year old ejected from the windscreen? Was the child on the mother's lap? Why are people still doing this?!? That poor child was little more than an airbag if this is the case. Please folks, buckle up yourself and your loved ones. Accidents happen in a second, and they truly can save your life.
