Pretoria - Four men were arrested after allegedly kidnapping a young boy and demanding ransom money from his parents on Wednesday, Pretoria police said.
"The mother told the men to come to her office today (Wednesday) to collect the money, and at the same time, she called police," Inspector Paul Ramaloko said.
They were arrested when they arrived at the woman's workplace in Pretoria central about 11:00 on Wednesday morning.
The 14-year-old boy was kidnapped in Mamelodi on Sunday.
His mother reported the matter to police and a search team was dispatched. They did not find the boy.
Ramaloko said the suspects then got in touch with the boy's mother and demanded a ransom.
