Johannesburg - A prosecutor, soldier and a SA Police Service laboratory worker have been arrested for kidnapping and assault, Limpopo police said on Monday.
Spokesperson Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said a public prosecutor from Witbank Magistrate's Court, a soldier from Seven Sai in Phalaborwa, a South African Police Service forensic laboratory official in Pretoria and a man who alleged he was robbed were arrested.
It is alleged that the 25-year-old man told his uncle that he had been robbed of his cellphone and R200 cash in Praktiseer on Friday, said Ramatseba.
The four men then kidnapped the two alleged robbers aged between 18 and 35.
Ramatseba said they were taken to a nearby river where they were assaulted.
"The 35-year-old alleged robber was thrown into the river after he was beaten up. However, he managed to grab some shrubs on the river bank," he said.
They were arrested for kidnapping and assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm.
