Johannesburg - A swarm of bees attacked children playing at the Bunny Park in Benoni on Friday afternoon, stinging 44 of them.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said four of the children were in a very critical condition.

He said paramedics and emergency services were still at the scene, stabilising the children

Botha said it appeared from the scene indicate that the children from a pre-primary school were on an outing at the park, and were waiting for a bus when things went drastically wrong.
