Johannesburg - A woman died and four others were injured in an accident on the R26 outside Bethlehem in the Free State on Saturday, paramedics said.

The driver of the car lost control and overturned before rolling several times, Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said. "The vehicle came to rest nearly thirty metres from the roadway in a field."

The woman was declared dead on scene while the injured were rushed to hospital, Wicks said.

Meanwhile, four people were killed in two separate accidents on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast on Saturday.

Two pedestrians died when they were hit by a car on the R61 in Margate, said Netcare 911’s Chris Botha.

Another pedestrian and a motorist were killed in a separate accident on the N2 near Sipofu. Five others were also injured in the accident.
