Johannesburg - An Aids volunteer hotline will be launched on Tuesday as part of the Nelson Mandela 46664 campaign.
"This campaign will galvanise South Africa to get behind this issue," Nelson Mandela Foundation chief executive John Samuel said in Johannesburg on Monday.
South Africans wishing to volunteer their time to help Aids patients should call 08000-46664 and they will be referred to an appropriate organisation.
A new ad campaign involving Mandela and United States actor Brad Pitt was also unveiled.
In the 30-second television ad, Mandela calls on South Africans not to allow Aids patients to be reduced to statistics.
"They are our brothers and sisters and are entitled to our compassion and support. You can make a difference, get ready to play your part," Mandela says in the ad.
Pitt urges South Africa to "act, and act now".
