Durban - Two men have escaped with minor injuries after their 4x4 crashed through a residential wall and into an empty swimming pool.

According to ER24 paramedics, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle on Stella Road in Queensburgh in the early hours of Saturday morning. It went crashing through the wall and came to rest on its roof in the empty swimming pool.

"The home owners explained that the pool has only recently been drained, and that if there had been water in the pool the fate of the two men could have been a lot worse," said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

The pool also prevented the vehicle from crashing into the bedroom, the owners were sleeping.

The two occupants were helped out of the vehicle and were seated at the side of the pool when paramedics arrived. They were treated the two men for soft tissue injuries and transported to hospital for observation, Jackson said.
