5 die, 67 injuredin Joburg hotel fire

Johannesburg - Five people died and 67 others were injured when their residential hotel caught fire about 01:00 on Wednesday, said Malcolm Midgley of the emergency services.

He said six of the 67 people were seriously injured.

The fire, which allegedly started in the Rand Inn International Hotel's restaurant, was put out by 07:00.

Midgley said hotel was at the corner of Bree and Klein streets in central Johannesburg.
