Kimberley - Police have arrested two more people for the rape of an 18-year-old pregnant woman at Galeshewe, Kimberley, more than a week ago.
Captain Tony Modise said five people had been arrested in connection with the April 22 incident, in which the boyfriend was allegedly assaulted and forced to be present while she was gang-raped.
Modise said the couple were on their way home late that night when seven men confronted them with knives.
They allegedly started to assault the boyfriend who ran away, being chased by three of the assailants.
Four of the men allegedly held the woman and took turns in raping her until the three other men returned to the scene with the boyfriend.
Modise said they men then pulled a cap over the boyfriend's face while the trio allegedly took turns to rape his girlfriend in his presence.
Helpful house owner sought
The boyfriend's cellphone also was stolen before the attackers left the gang-rape scene.
Modise said the five suspects would appear in Kimberley magistrate's court soon.
"The investigation continues and more arrests can be expected," he said.
However, police urged the owner of a house who helped the couple after the attack to contact investigating officer detective-inspector Monrinpule Khatwane on 053 807 6197 or 082 495 4605.
"The reason is that the complainant and her boyfriend have forgotten the location of the house," said Modise.
