5 killed trying to rob PE brewery

2012-04-20 14:23

Port Elizabeth - Five robbers were killed in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth on Friday while trying to rob a brewery, Eastern Cape police said.

"The five suspects were busy robbing the cash office and a shoot-out ensued, which led to five of the suspects [being] killed and six firearms recovered," said Captain Andre Beetge.

He said the police had been tipped off about the planned heist and were on the scene.

Two other robbers fled in a white Jetta, which was later recovered.

No civilians or police were injured in the shoot-out.

      Denis - 2012-04-20 15:18

But looks like the Sunday Times wont agree with you. The way there've been castigating the Durban officers who were doing a good job cleaning it of scum.

  • slritchie - 2012-04-20 14:36

The best solution possible.... Blow 'em away! Hope they find the missing two and sort them out the same way!

      tshepo.ally - 2012-04-20 15:51

      i'd even shoot him myself.

      Chris - 2012-04-20 16:03

Speak for yourself, there are some of us who actually have an interest in raising our children properly, not just collecting a child grant once a month.

      Jack - 2012-04-20 16:18

@ Gretchen can only conclude that your off-spring are involved in the same kind of activities. Sies...we're sick of crime, rape and the sorts. Time to rid the country of useless rubbish.

  • Ashwin - 2012-04-20 14:59

Haiku They went in for cash In a brewery they made their dash Hail of bullets the end

  • Jayson - 2012-04-20 15:00

Swift justice. Love it. Those thugs were armed. And would've used force if needed. One up to the SAPS. Made my weekend.

  • Steven - 2012-04-20 15:00

    Way to go, SAPS!!!

  • Tokelo MediaOwner Fako - 2012-04-20 15:02

for the love of Alcohol.. at least they are \toasting it up\ wherever they are..

  • stblackburn - 2012-04-20 15:04

Sounds like an execution - not an attempted arrest.....

      Rob - 2012-04-20 15:11

Yes it does....And thats what makes it so great. I guess SAPS are g@tvoel & I would rather read of the deaths of these scum who have no value for life anyway, then read that five SAPS members were shot dead. Despite our misgivings about many SAPS members, there are many that are dedicated & do a fine job.

      Denis - 2012-04-20 15:19

Arrests are a waste of tax payers money...its cheaper to execute these gun-totting scum.

      Martin - 2012-04-20 15:38

Today, genuine justice happens most often outside of the Courts. I wish these policemen all the best with the process of "Justice" that lies ahead.

      Chris - 2012-04-20 16:04

Caught in the act, all armed, execution works for me

  • Bob - 2012-04-20 15:05

    Cool beans!

  • elmathapo - 2012-04-20 15:05

Give those police men some free chicken licken (we can't give them beer, it will get them drunk)

  • Biggs - 2012-04-20 15:06

The police commissioner Bheki Cele was right with one thing, shoot to kill

  • j.c.s.mailbox - 2012-04-20 15:07

Yup if u want to play this game u must also receive what u want to give.

  • Geoffrey - 2012-04-20 15:10

  • mbangiseni - 2012-04-20 15:10

Good job to the SAPS. So wish that this could seriously serve as a deterrent to other dirty scumbag robber wannabes.

  • Msika - 2012-04-20 15:33

Probably helped thembselves with some booze before comiting the robery. Give all those police officers botles of bells from the brewery and promotions to higher ranks.

  • louis.langenhoven - 2012-04-20 15:47

I haven't actually read every comment in detail but after scanning through them I think I can safely say this is one of the articles which brings joy to all and is regarded as good news by everyone....can anyone in Government read? The people have spoken and they are moeg & g@tvol of crime!

  • Chumscrubber1 - 2012-04-20 16:34

I wish the police in my area could get some lessons from these guys. Obviously a very professional bunch, I am impressed, they give me hope. Glad the robbers were killed and not jailed just to be released a day later and continue their assault on law abiding citizens. This is war, the enemy must be wiped out!

  • Rowan Cranston - 2012-04-20 16:35

u guys are welcome to visit kzn! Bring bus loads of ammo

  • gailcarolynhayes - 2012-04-20 16:59

The greatest thing about this story is the fact that only 2 people in all the commenters raised an objection and those two were possibly from two different races. The rest of the commenters come from different historical backgrounds but speak with a common voice. KILL THE CRIMINALS. Do we need a referendum to get this message across to the ruling party? To the person who complained that this sounded like an execution: The criminals came armed even if those were just toys or had no bullets. You don't want to die? Then don't do crime! Didn't they get the message last year in Burman Rd where an innocent civilian died in the crossfire but the cops shot and killed the crims? Well done SAP and Security guys. An actuary should work out just how much you guys have saved the taxpayer and you should all get a share as a bonus.

  • Titi - 2012-04-20 17:03

    Good job SAPS

  • aiazmir - 2012-04-20 17:07

I would have stolen the beer rather, but losing your life for steeling a few bottles of beer would have prevented me. Moral of the story; never steal from a brewery.

  • miehleketo.ndlovu - 2012-04-20 17:28
