Durban - Five people were arrested for allegedly stealing 21 cattle valued at about R147 000 in Umzimkulu, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

"Five suspects including a truck driver were arrested while herding livestock onto a truck on Thursday," Captain Thulani Zwane said.

The Kokstad stock theft unit received information that cattle were being stolen from the grazing field.

The truck was also impounded by police.

The men, aged between 20 and 60, are expected to appear in the Intsikeni Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on a charge of possession of stolen property.
