5 vacant top jobs in Eastern Cape

East London - Several heads of department posts are vacant in the Eastern Cape government, according to a report on Thursday.

The Daily Dispatch reported that there were vacancies in the departments of economic development, environmental affairs and tourism, local government and traditional affairs, and roads and public works.

Applications for these jobs that were advertised on 24 December would close on Friday.

Another position, which was re-advertised, was for the position of head of health department.

Meanwhile, the provincial education department's head, Modidima Mannya, resigned in April 2012 after falling out with SA Democratic Teachers Union. Interviews for his job were conducted on Tuesday.
