Johannesburg - Five young men were arrested for damaging police property and public drunkenness in Edenvale on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Cynthia Kleynhans said the men, between the ages of 19 and 21, were arrested at Karraglen shopping centre.
"Two of the young men were drunk in public and were watching three other youngsters spraypainting one of Edenvale SAPS's mobile reporting points," said Kleynhans.
Two were charged with being drunk in public and the other three with malicious damage to state property.
The two suspects who were charged with being drunk in public appeared in Edenvale court on Tuesday. The other three suspects were still in police custody and would appear in court on Thursday.
"This serves as a clear warning to youngsters that Edenvale SAPS will not tolerate any misconduct that amounts to criminal activity in the Edenvale area."
