591 fraudulent licences issued

Johannesburg - The Delmas testing station has fraudulently issued 591 driver's licences over the last five months, Mpumalanga police said on Friday.
Spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi said the licences were handed out without an appointment for a test having been made.
Police discovered the fraud after community members tipped them off.
The police had yet to link the licences with the Delmas Municipality officials who allegedly issued them, so they could be arrested.
Hlathi expressed concern about the safety of motorists since it had come to the police's attention that "more and more" traffic officials and e-Natis operators in various municipalities were fraudulently issuing licences.
