Baghdad - Iraqi security forces found the bodies of 60 men shot dead execution-style in apparent sectarian attacks in Baghdad on Sunday, said a security official.
"Many of the victims were tortured, handcuffed and shot in the head," said the official, describing the pattern seen in sectarian killings during the past few months in Baghdad, which is the epicentre of Iraq's communal bloodletting.
Fifty-five bodies were found in Baghdad's western Karkh area and the rest were picked up from the eastern Rusafa region.
Three of the corpses were headless and recovered from the northwestern Al-Hurriyah neighbourhood which has become a site of increasing sectarian violence.
Another 28 people were killed in rebel and sectarian attacks across Iraq.
