Lagos - Sixty people are thought to have burnt to death after an oil tanker fell over and caught fire, splashing petrol on other vehicles on a road in southwest Nigeria, the media said on Saturday.
The accident occurred during a downpour on Friday evening along the busy Lagos-Ibadan express road in Ogun State, This Day newspaper said.
The occupants of the petrol tanker and the other vehicles were burnt beyond recognition during the accident, it said.
Two survivors were taken to the hospital to be treated for serious burns.
Neither the police nor fire service were immediately available to confirm the report.
The accident is the latest in a string of fatal disasters this year on Nigeria's poorly-maintained inter-city roads, where disregard of traffic rules is common.
