Johannesburg - Sixty people were injured, five critically, in a bus accident in central Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

The 65-seater bus hit a wall when the driver lost control in Anderson Street near the intersection with Sauer Street in Marshalltown, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks.

"We have resources coming to the accident from across the city to help with the casualty load," Wicks said.

The bus was full of passengers when the accident happened.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.

That's really bad. It could be the driver's carelessness or a mechanical failure on the bus but in any case people could have died.

Iyoh! That's 92% of the total passangers. I guess it's a miracle no one died.
