Johannesburg - About 600 Medscheme employees were evacuated from two company buildings in Florida on Monday after some fell ill, Johannesburg Emergency Services said.
Malcolm Midgley of the emergency services said some workers had nausea, stomach cramps and respiratory problems and 72 were taken to hospitals.
It is suspected that those admitted to hospital were suffering from insecticide poisoning.
He said some were treated and discharged.
He said police were still investigating the cause and the building would be reopened on Tuesday.
Thirty-six workers were taken to hospital with similar symptoms last Friday.
