7 killed in Eastern Cape crash

Port Elizabeth - Seven people were killed and two others seriously injured in an accident involving a minibus taxi and a truck on the R390 in the Eastern Cape, the provincial traffic department said on Tuesday.

The two vehicles collided near Hofmeyr at about 23:00 on Monday, spokesperson Tshepo Machaea said.

All the occupants of the Toyota Quantum minibus died on the scene. The truck driver and his passenger were taken to a local hospital.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. Machaea said police were still working on the scene.

A case of culpable homicide was opened.

    how many more before somthing is done,i have travelled this road and a person must be wide awake here, tired taxi driver + tired truck driver= disaster and loss of life
