taxi drivers must go for special driving lessons before being offered a PrDP... taxi associations must stop gambling with people's lives. this is so unacceptable..

What a surprise? Another black taxi - anything new? A daily occurance!!!!

      Youefoh - 2011-12-14 07:48

True! When will this country wake up and get these idiots off the road and implement a proper system.

      lynch - 2011-12-14 08:27

you do you have to say black taxi, why can't you see him just as a taxi driver

      Gilbert - 2011-12-14 08:29

Totally agree, would really like the government to ban taxi drivers for the month of December and i guarantee that there will be a dramatic change in the death toll over the December period. When will the government realize that these are death traps and that they should be taken off the road. Brilliant idea all corrupt government officials are sentenced to 400 hours in a taxi. ether way the tax payers win

Andrew this is true but its not just black taxi drivers at fault here... This morning i was a white person driving a Toyota Stallion Bakkie with about 20 people siting on the back of it some standing as theres not enought place to sit. and this in a vehicle only licensed to carry 3 people max. Believe it or not we all guilty of this in one form or another. It just there is thousands more taxis on the road we hear more of them than other things.

and so the slaughter begins.... sleep well mr minister of carnage!!!!

  • braamc - 2011-12-13 20:08

The accident was caused by the driver, another f*cken taxi murderer. They all the same - murderers

  • Jim - 2011-12-13 20:14

Poor visibilty is no excuse. The solution after each accident is to confiscate the vehicle responsible to the state with NO compensation to the owner. Sbu - forget about changing speed limits which few comply with anyway. The above will force vehicle owners - whether private, taxi, truck, bus or whatever (blue light brigade included) to ensure that their drivers comply with the law at all times.

We keep getting told of the financial cost of all our road deaths - yet it seems the majority of major accidents are due to taxi's - who for some unexplained reason do not pay any tax. So you and I pay - they just keep up the carnage.

if you are having a full vision on road why you can't stop and wait for the heavy rain to slow down and continue with your journey

  • Ndaleni - 2011-12-13 20:29

Its so sad to learn about this. To everyone who's driving/will be driving can we stop this accidents. This is no longer about the traffic official or the police but ourselves. Could we just for once think of the misery we leave behind because of the accidents that we could sometimes be able to avoid. Let's respect life and most of all those we drive around.

  • mkwanams - 2011-12-13 23:37

taxi drivers never respect other road users, they act like they own the road,if you areon the road, they never apologised or give way, instead they swear at you.

"The accident was caused by poor visibility." This could have been one of the contributing factors, but accidents are always a combination of dangerous conditions, in this case the poor visibility, and human factors. How much did the driver mitigate for the poor visibility, or did he just drive ops normal with total disregard for the conditions?

This has affected us directly as the taxi hit our Spray Rig that was doing routine Herbicide spraying on the N1. Please note that the Taxi was moving at such a speed that it managed to overturn the rig loaded down with approximately 4 tons. Thank heavens our guys were only injured slightly The report is that whilst overtaking another vehicle a tyre burst on the taxi causing it to collide with our rig which was off on the verge travelling at 20km/h

Oh No Not again !! One can feel for the passengers who are at the mercy of incompetant and irresponsible drivers - nothing but nothing will change these drivers mindsets Lets face the facts this is Africa - this carnage will be with us forever - Taxis are important they fulfull an importatnt role but this carnage cannot be controlled by the authorities - it's the individual dumb , thick and selfish drivers that are the problem - heartfelt condolences to families that have lost their loved ones in an an accident that probably could have been avoided

A hard fact to swallow is that taxi drivers are not the only worst drivers but White drivers in the up-market vehicle category. During the last year or so I had the opportunity to actually see this band of breakers in action. The old saying: If you want to see a 4x4's backside then just overtake it. It works every time. I have seen white drivers in their fancy Kia's and BMW do the most impossible and dangerous acts like overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic to the extent that the oncoming traffic is forced to leave the road. Flash your lights then you receive a F*ck you sign. Our white manne in action. Mr Bimmer is poer-poering along at 100Ks and when overtaken you will see the back end of him within seconds. If I were to make an age estimate for this sorry brigade the average age would be about 32years old. That age where they are so concerned about their children's well being.

No worry. The taxi's will thin out the ANC.Sorry for the families they left behind.
