9 killed in Western Cape crash

Cape Town - Nine people were killed when their van crashed outside Clanwilliam, a Western Cape traffic official said on Thursday.

The driver of van, carrying 21 passengers, lost control of the vehicle around 14:00 on Wednesday, provincial traffic chief Kenny Afrika said.

The driver and eight others were killed, while 10 passengers were seriously injured.

Two people sustained moderate injuries.

    Was the van a 21 seater? Or just overloaded?

      The radio said a bakkie. Even worse. Probably a 1 tonner. 21 * 65kg each is almost 1.4ton!

    Don't you have vehicle testing every 6mnths like they do in NZ...How many vehicles in your country have bald tyres,one of the main causes of crashes. SA lacks basic discipline and rules/laws a total disgrace.
