ANC MP Thandile Sunduza's green boobtube dress went viral after appearing on the SONA red carpet last night.WATCH

Cape Town - The African National Congress has labelled the commentary of MP Thandile Sunduza’s dress at the State of the Nation address as cyber bullying, sexism and gender objectification.

Sunduza, who is seven months pregnant, was the talk of the SONA when she walked the red carpet in a yellow boobtube dress.

People took to social networking sites to state their dislike of Sunduza’s dress and the MP also made many “worst dressed” lists.

On Friday, Sunduza collapsed, apparently in shock after seeing the comments.

Eyewitness News quoted the ANC’s Moloto Mothapo as saying the comments about his colleague were “shameful” and that there were people who see fit to subject women to “such abuse” over their choice of dress.

Sunduza also took to her Facebook page to to voice her sadness about the comments.

“I Am A WOMAN and I Must Enjoy my FEMINITY Stage, If Beyonce was wearing it or Bonang it wouldnt be an issue [sic],” Sunduza wrote last Thursday, a day after the SONA.

In June last year, the ANC came under fire for a comment after its MP John Jeffery called the Democratic Alliance’s Lindiwe Mazibuko a “person of substantial weight”.

The party defended the statement saying it was a pun and “had more to do with her influence and power associated with the position she holds than her physical weight”.
