ANC MP indulges in free food and drinks

2012-03-09 20:56

Johannesburg - An ANC MP helped herself to a bag full of cold drinks and a plate of sandwiches after a portfolio committee meeting in Parliament, according to a report on Friday.

ANC MP and joint defence committee member Pamela Daniels raised her hands in the air and shouted: "I'm crazy about democracy!" after a meeting of the committee was adjourned on Thursday, the Witness reported.

Daniels then took out a plastic shopping bag and started filling it with Appletiser and Grapetiser drinks provided for the committee.

According to the report, Daniels continued shouting "democracy by the people, for the people," as she filled the plastic bag.

The drinks and bottled water are provided by Parliament for every committee meeting.

Daniels also piled a parliamentary plate high with sandwiches, and wrapped it in plastic that she had brought with her.

"Now lunch is sorted," she was quoted as saying.

Daniels told the newspaper that the food and drinks had been paid for, so she should be able to take it.

"If the committee meeting is over and the stuff is lying there, why should I leave it?" she was quoted as saying.

Strange for this to feature as "news" but typical nonetheless. Completely different set of values at play.

If the committee meeting is over and the stuff is lying there, why should I leave it?" she was quoted as saying. Was she making a statement???? Why is all that stuff lying there for the committee meeting?????? Lets look at who is organizing all this waste, where the money is going etc. Most bureaucrats go for lunch out of their own pockets at lunchtime. Why should a committee be different. Scrap all food.

That's nothing! I heard from a reliable source that MP's use twice as much toilet paper than the average citizen! Imagine... Double-wiping.... Its just wrong no matter how you look at it!

There is an ancient tradition among a certain community that says,''If one does not finish his/her plate of food to the extend that it gets throne away, the devil will eat it''. It is a known fact that waste brings poverty

Has this person ever thought of sending the leftover food and drinks to an orphanage or old age home for the less fortunate, or does that kind of thought not exist in their minds. Democracy, my foot.

ANC is just a hole in the wall, our country is fast becoming a old black and white picture with no color in it. Let me give you an example. In their last news letter of the GEPF they said that they are making some good investments by using the members pension money and investing it in low cost housing projects. How stupid must you be to see that as a good investment?

This is theft of taxpayers proprty because she took unopened drinks that could have been sent back to the bar and reissued on another occasion. These politicians are the scum of the earth. They have no shame and will devour everything in their wake that is from taxpayers money and not their own. I cringe when they keep calling themselves honourable.

The ANC is a political party of take take take. Yes it played a small part in the fight against apartheid but that does not mean that its greedy politicians have to steal everything. They really are the lowest of the low. They steal whilst millions starve. When is this idiot ex minister Sicelo Shiceka going to pay back the millions of rand he stole from taxpayers to visit his drug crazed girlfriend in a Swiss jail? Never. Zuma owes him too much. Corruption by the ANC will continue unabated whilst Zuma is at the helm. Once the NPA out of fear for their own individual jobs, illegally withdrew the hundreds of corruption charges against the wily rotund sugar daddy, corruption was bound to run rampant. Get Zuma out and corruption will inevitably cease.
