ANC: Zuma must conduct Cape Town audit

2012-08-17 10:04

Cape Town - The Western Cape ANC has called on President Jacob Zuma to order a service delivery audit in Cape Town following several protests, it was reported on Friday.

African National Congress provincial secretary Songezo Mjongile told the Cape Times that the Democratic Alliance was not meeting its targets for human settlements and that thousands of families were being left out in the cold.

"Inhabitable temporary relocation areas like the much-hated Blikkiesdorp have become permanent features. The ANC calls on Zuma for an audit on service delivery," he said.

He also said the DA-led government could not continue diverting attention from service delivery issues by blaming the provincial ANC for fuelling protests.

Provincial premier and DA leader Helen Zille said such an audit had already been completed for Zuma.

"The Western Cape and Cape Town were by far the best for service delivery in the entire country, which is one of the reasons so many people move to the Western Cape," she told the newspaper.

She said there was a "massive" redistribution of budgets to the poorest.

Oh yes, and at least our police have Rubber bullets for these types of things. :P

      Willie - 2012-08-17 10:32

Why don't they call Zuma to do audits in ANC run provinces

      grant.hide - 2012-08-17 10:38

Probs cause then they will find they 4 times off our pace.

      anthonycharles.williams - 2012-08-17 10:42

maybe no more white province like no more white boys in SAA....

      ndyeboreginaldmazawule - 2012-08-17 11:11

You know very well which areas the DA provide for in the western cape man

      blignault.michaele - 2012-08-17 11:15

Zuma has too much "auditing" to do at home, what with all his wives......

      john.loveland.9 - 2012-08-17 14:38

Sounds like the toilet saga again.... Are the ANC going to embarrass themselves again? they need to clean there own back yard before they start pointing fingers.

      tyrone.merwe - 2012-08-22 15:54

@ ndyeboreginaldmazawule, and so it should be concerning we are the ones that [ay our rates and taxes and all the free electrical cables going round Danone, blue downs etc etc. Seems all can be cried about the poor but no thanks is given to the people that pay their rates and taxes and create work out of nothing, pay for our own education and yet must just keep giving and giving. wake up and smell the coffee for once. Be thankful for what you guys receive

  • sean.efstratiou - 2012-08-17 10:20

So first they start the riots then demand Zuma check it out ...

      andrew.arde - 2012-08-17 10:31

I know - These ANC idiots are just plain pathetic!

  • logical007 - 2012-08-17 10:22

The ANC calls on Zuma for an audit on service delivery," And service delivery in every other area of South Africa? its non existent! Promises of houses, and everything else is a lie! ANC are corrupt and stand by their motto : lie lie and deny!

  • andrew.mackie.90 - 2012-08-17 10:23

Where has this person been for the past 10 years, maybe a Rip van Winkle and sleeping away the time. If an audit is required for every multiple service delivery protest all over the country we will be covered in an avalanche of paper so high and SAPPI paper mills will be making a fortune. Not to mention the cost to the taxpayer. Get a life Mjongile!!

  • crystal.core.5 - 2012-08-17 10:33

Does anyone out there actually believe for a second that there is any substance to the ANC propaganda machine, SAPA's article? I would challenge any one of the ANC run provinces to even come close to the Western Cape in terms of good governance. It will never happen!

  • martin.wohlfarter.5 - 2012-08-17 10:36

LOL, Cape Town audit, but you can't run Limpopo...

  • lwandle.dyasi - 2012-08-17 10:40

ANC must not be selective in its approach to otherwise genuine issues. Cape Town is not the only city/town that is experiencing service delivery protests. This approach, if followed, must be applicable to all municipalities, starting with ANC governed municipalities. That is when it will be perceived to be genuine.

  • Kuno - 2012-08-17 10:46

What a great idea... can we do this in all 9 provinces and see which ones don't deliver? What about all the other protests in all other provinces? ANC don't you forget that you have lots to clean up in your own ANC run provinces... much easier to point fingers and blame others in order to divert attention from your own shortfalls. What a bunch of hypocrates

  • algenon.morta - 2012-08-17 10:46

I for one completely agree the ANC is quick to point fingers at the western cape because it is run by the DA statistically speaking the western cape has the best performing governance outright.... furthermore need i point out that Limpopo (ANC run) had the text book issues then we have the corruption charges in the ANC mysteriously vanish then we have the mines and last but not least our good old Friend Juju Malema's fiasco..... come on ull up your socks!!!

  • rinus.groeneveld.7 - 2012-08-17 10:53

Not being content with a Province that actually works, the ANC will pull out all stops to destabilise the environment and then have the odasity to call for a service delivery audit! Only in South Africa - destroy what you have, then complain that you have nothing!!

  • Thami.Ndlalane - 2012-08-17 10:54

The poverty experienced in the Cape is not different or the worst compared with other provinces, so why the obsession only with Western Cape? Why is there no call for audit in the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga or even Gauteng??

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-08-17 11:02

Yes, Zuma audit the W.P. and in the meantime we will shoot protesting mineworkers.Get a life.

  • Tony Lapson - 2012-08-17 11:06

Challenge accepted? Let's do this. It will be interesting to see and compare. At the same time, let's audit all provinces and let the facts do the talking.

  • ndyeboreginaldmazawule - 2012-08-17 11:07

What I hate is that because the ANC is not rulling the western cape especailly Cape Town, they just stand aside and condone some lousy protests for services instead of challenging the rulling party with what the people of the province need so they could get some votes come the next election. Poor thiking leads to poor service for poor people. No wonder they will never get Cape Town

      bobo.jane.1 - 2012-08-17 11:49

There is a defference between Ruling and Governing - Something that the ANC clearly does not understand...The balance of power is slowly beginning to tip to the opposition in the rest of the provinces and rightfully so - All good hard working & honest citizens will make SA work NOT the ANC

  • bonaqua.delpero - 2012-08-17 11:37

If so start with Eastern Cape, Limpopo n Mpumalanga then Western Cape n compare the audit....I can bet Western Cape will come TOP....!!!!

  • ettienne.hattingh - 2012-08-17 11:55

Is this comedy central. What a joke. Ha ha ha ha. cANCer is rotten to core. Pot calling the kettle black hey.

  • themba.thwala.98 - 2012-08-17 11:56

We will cook that audit so well the Limpopo Provincial Government will look like saints. So step aside Auditor~General and let JZ do the audit :)

  • ally.oh.7 - 2012-08-17 13:52

Cape Town should be audited along with ALL the local authorities in SA. Why single out one region?

  • winifred.watson.9 - 2012-08-17 14:13

They are so desperate to ruin the Western Cape that they are being so underhanded by paying for a rent a protestor. Why must be ANC so bent on destroying everything that is good. Instead of trying to uplift provinces they destroy them. Where do these people come from. ANC = AFFIRMATIVE NATIONAL DESTROYERS. Let them do an audit and it should then be compulsory that the public, The audit results published in the newspaper so then the whole of south africa can see who has egg on their face and who does'nt. Its time the ANC started to elect people who represent them in the provinces that are intelligent, here they have Tony Ethenride and Fransman who are really are clueless, surely that does not say much for the ANC themselves, the need better people to represent them. Time they started to show pride in the organisation and not elect guys who promote racism and are clueless.

  • my10cent - 2012-09-10 08:50

Idiot, Zuma cannot even audit himself!!!
