ANCYL protesters want Zille

2012-08-27 15:20

Cape Town - Protesters from the ANC Youth League and other bodies demanded Western Cape Premier Helen Zille's presence on Monday to accept a memorandum of demands over service delivery.

They refused to deliver the document to representatives of her office.

Protesters were behaving in a peaceful fashion as leaders of the African National Congress Youth League and its allies addressed them in Cape Town.

Last week, Zille agreed to accept the memorandum on condition ANCYL retracted its statements on making the city "ungovernable".

"We will never apologise to the madam, to Zille. Days of apartheid are over," said ANCYL spokesperson Magdalene Moonsamy.

Apartheid ended 18 Years ago yes. We are now in a Democracy, now live where the people you voted for live. They promised you free houses and food parcels, not us.

      tshifhiwa.vandermunalisi - 2012-08-27 15:41

Anmd those people live in South Africa, are you in Australia Getafix?

      bob.mcmillen.564 - 2012-08-27 15:46

Helen Zille does not respond to DEMANDS, she responds to responsible requests.

      carpejugulim - 2012-08-27 15:48

jackie she agreed to accept the memorandum on the condition that the ANCYL retracted its statements on making the city "ungovernable" The ancyl refused to do so so why should she accept their memorandum?

      heinrich.spreeth - 2012-08-27 15:48

If I was her I would accept the memorandum. And let them know that she will take the issues and the lack of funds up with government and let them know as soon as she gets a response to where all the money is going.

      jackie.stone.501 - 2012-08-27 15:56

@carpejugulim- So no delivering will be done in WC until ANCYL withdraw the statement, I think that might work against her party. She forgets that ANCYL are not governing WC, but hey lets wait until the next election

      susanna.smit.7 - 2012-08-27 15:57

Remember the CT toilet drama in the poorer areas? Neighbours got jealous of each other's toilets and started destroying each other's toilets. The municipalities couldn't keep up with the toilet construction to provide the growth of 3000 new residents every day. (I believe most of them came here from the Eastern Cape as there were no toilets/jobs etc. to start off with in the poorer areas.)

      Spiral - 2012-08-27 16:03

there's no one as blind as he who doesnt want to see! The ANC & all other "associate parties" will lean on Aparteid as long as they can to avoid admitting that they are incapable of running the country... unless its running it into the ground. That they are doing rather well.

      jackie.stone.501 - 2012-08-27 16:06

@formandzen - Hahahaha Education? you need to liberate your mind my boy, you have been brainwashed. It is not about how many degree you have but how influential, how powerful, how much you can make. I have lots and lots of books that you can educate yourself with, good luck

      Robin - 2012-08-27 16:33

And this lady is supposed to have an education..."We will never apologise to the madam, to Zille. Days of apartheid are over," said ANCYL spokesperson Magdalene Moonsamy.

  • ahenriquesfernandes - 2012-08-27 15:33

"We will never apologise to the madam, to Zille. Days of apartheid are over," said ANCYL How ironic. That statement just shows how the days of apartheid are not yet over in some peoples minds

      jacques.vermaak.50 - 2012-08-27 15:35

you know what is funny, none of these ANCYL members where even born during apartheid

      bob.mcmillen.564 - 2012-08-27 15:48

jacques, that's probably why they don't realise Helen Zille was against apartheid, I bet their leaders forgot to tell them that.

      carpejugulim - 2012-08-27 15:49

they don't understand what it means either

      stirrer.stirrer - 2012-08-27 16:05

The ANCYL don't know anything about apartheid, Helen Zille's history, the Black Sash, anything. They might have if the ANC had delivered their history books on time.

  • michael.vanrheenen.9 - 2012-08-27 15:33

Days of apartheid are over? What does apartheid have to do with this? It's a matter of principal you idiots!!!

      neville.chamberlain.509 - 2012-08-27 15:37

They don't understand the meaning of principles

      shirley.steenkamp - 2012-08-27 15:43

      They have no principles!

      goyougoodthing - 2012-08-27 16:21

Don't even bother trying to explain this. Firstly, those marching, are a very small minority comprising the best SA have to offer in stupidity or manipulation. The latter pretends to be the former but they are most dangerous. For the rest, they really are dumb and do not speak for the average person in SA. On average, NORMAL people all want to get along.

  • timothy.tanzer.5 - 2012-08-27 15:36

Looks like a UDF March to me...

      wendy.craig.9655 - 2012-08-27 15:41

Yes, interesting that the ANC Youth League is not marching under an ANC flag?!

  • Thoughtsandstuff - 2012-08-27 15:37

What right have these idjits got to march through a city they don't belong in (due to the fact that they're bussed in by the ANC) to demand anything from someone who is so VASTLY their superior (in class, not race.) Go back to the Eastern Cape ANCYL. No one wants your hooligan behaviour in Cape Town!

  • rick.kabose - 2012-08-27 15:38

I think the "Madam" is busy doing what she is paid to do by the good citizens of the Western Cape. I really don't think she has time to waist on the bussed in citizens of the E.Cape. They should march on the offices of the E.Capes premier to demand services in their "local" area

      steve.ritchie.739 - 2012-08-27 15:43

Couldn't agree more Rick. The Eastern Cape is a pig-sty. This memorandum should be handed over to that Kieviet person.

  • jackie.stone.501 - 2012-08-27 15:39

Well here it goes again, "Unless we are approaching the election, Helen does not give an F about you guys. The dancing together time is finished, and in the next election you all better think twice before putting an X next to her face"

      darryl.maze1 - 2012-08-27 15:59

Jackie if you think the ANC is doing better then please move to the E.C.

      johan.nieuwenhuys.7 - 2012-08-27 16:06

How on earth is putting an 'X' next to the ANC or any other party (beside DA) for that matter going to help/improve this country? Statistics and facts speak for themselves, WC is the best run province, I wonder why? And instead of people marching and protesting in anger and frustration why don't they simply change their vote? It is the ANC they keep voting in that keeps letting this country suffer and implode by tying the hands of the people/parties that are trying to help.

      Robin - 2012-08-27 16:35

Jackie did they also promise you a job or a house? dumb@ss!

      abe.taylor125 - 2012-08-27 16:46

Jackie...u r the voice of reason...in this maddening crowd...light and love to all...

  • judith.taylor.56 - 2012-08-27 15:42

When they've finished disrupting Cape Town, could they come to Welkom and protest the fields of sewage pumped from the non-working waste water works to behind primary schools and such. In fact any where in Free State or Gauteng - I'll show them the sites of interest. Would welcome their acting against the ANC led municipalities

      rob.bayliss.94 - 2012-08-27 16:01

Judith: Thanks for bringing sewerage into the discussion....did you see the report today of some black kids drowning in a sewerage treatment overflow near Pretoria. I saw it in the Star Newspaper, together with a photo of eight police divers trying to recover bodies. The police divers were ALL white guys! Very sad, but wierd.....I have been trying to get my head around that picture all day!

  • charmaine.rowlands - 2012-08-27 15:42

I could live with "madam" Zille as Pres ANY DAY. What the hell people, the WC is the BEST run Province in SA. Where did Apartheid come into this? Just asking....

      jackie.stone.501 - 2012-08-27 16:10

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA Very interesting they got her eating out of their hands, she is at their level now. That was ill-informed move, maybe she is auctioning DA. She reached her sell by date

      Wally Walters - 2012-08-27 16:10

I agreej but the ANC cannot handle that the WC is running so well and the rest of the country is in a state of disrepair.it makes you think doesnt it

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-08-27 16:22

At least we have running water, electricity and no more "buckits" in Cape Town. Go Zille and DA!

  • Skwertno1 - 2012-08-27 15:42

THEY VOTED FOR FREEDOM, BUT ALL THE MAJORITY GOT WAS DEMOCRACY !!!!!!!!

  • shirley.steenkamp - 2012-08-27 15:45

This kindergarten group are full of "demands" and hot air. What as a collective group are they contributing towards the progress and upliftment of this country? All they do is march and incite violence and upheaval for their own gain!

  • larry.piggott1 - 2012-08-27 15:45

We want, we demand? Guess what? it will not work this time.

  • robynne.els.1 - 2012-08-27 15:52

I love it! You go Zille! At least she has the guts not to bow down to these oompa loompas

  • JHLR73 - 2012-08-27 15:52

Just accept the memorandum, let the holligans go home and then throw the memorandum in the bin. That is excatly what the ANC does when other parties march against violent crime and murder and corruption. The DA run western cape must just do the same

  • ben.louw.5 - 2012-08-27 15:57

No. They just want an excuse to start breaking stuff.

  • jackie.stone.501 - 2012-08-27 16:01

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA Very interesting they got her eating out of their hands, she is at their level now. That was ill-informed move, maybe she is auctioning DA. She reached her sell by date

      JHLR73 - 2012-08-27 16:11

You sound stoned to me with that comment...

      brett.bruce.121 - 2012-08-27 16:18

Did you skip your medication today?

      Tony Lapson - 2012-08-27 16:23

"it" isn't stoned, "it" just feels comfortable blabbering "it's" hatred behind a false name.

  • imam.madi.129 - 2012-08-27 16:21

Are South Africans truly brainless to an extent that democracy is just a slogan for the deaf? Why can't there be a civilised protesting anywhere in the country including Nkandla and Seapoint without insults and disrespecting each other? There are more languages in the constitution but seemingly none is good enough for adult communication. What a shame, non-whites shout racism and whites shout corruption. Can't we just send all the bigots and haters to the South-pole, and let the intellectually and morally capable people enjoy the weather without fighting over oxygen with these morons. When people cannot argue they use insults, sad. Let those who want to demonstrate do so without disturbing those who want to work, including letting Zille walk her dogs instead of taking memos, its a free country.

  • solly.shaba - 2012-08-27 16:39

Blacks are in majority in this country but I always wonder why so many 'thumbs up' when whites come up with racist remarks or opposing a black fellow who would sometimes state a positive statement. This is a sign of how much some of our whites counterparts hate free society. However, some of our blacks also practice the same behavior, this implies that they would rejoice in non free society. Very dissapointing.

      bishop.solitaire - 2012-08-27 16:58

People dont know what they are fighting about anymore, this rage amongst everyone has much to do with losing faith. Politicians are to blame for most of this anger, promises that are never kept. Malema shooting his mouth off getting the poor and uneducated hyped up just to fill his pockets. People are running wild, im afraid everyday. I beleive actions speak louder than words. My black and white friends peace...

  • ulindi.heerden - 2012-08-27 16:54

""We will never apologise to the madam, to Zille. Days of apartheid are over," said ANCYL spokesperson Magdalene Moonsamy." Just goes to show the level of education of people who are expected to be the future leaders of our country. Brainwashed chronies feeding the poor and uneducated masses with empty promises, burning our country to the ground in their actions. Saddens me to call myself South African under these conditions, we are such a disgraceful nation! ANCYL should stay out of WC with their tactics to disrupt the only province with a governance of integrity, yes there will always be room for improvement, but things are at least getting done, Rome was not built in a day.
