Cape Town - Two men and a woman were arrested on Sunday after they tried to con a woman out of her money for the second time at an ATM machine in Mossel Bay, Western Cape police said.
"Three suspects... were nabbed this morning when they attempted to con the same woman out of her money at an ATM at Kwanonqaba Mall for the second time since yesterday." said Captain Malcolm Pojie.
The victim had reported a case of theft to the local police station after she was swindled out of R1 400 at an ATM.
Returning to the mall on Sunday, she recognised the trio and called the police when they approached.
All three were arrested.
In the ensuing search, police found several banking cards, a card cloning device, and cash in their possession.
Their car, a VW Polo, was confiscated as evidence.
"This arrest should be a stern warning for potential con men to stay away from the Western Cape as they will encounter the full might of the law and will be brought to book," Pojie said.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Monday for fraud and theft.
