AWB graffiti defaces road signs
Johannesburg - Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) graffiti defaced road signs along the N12 between Johannesburg and Potchefstroom following the murder of party leader Eugene Terre'Blanche over the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Adele Myburgh on Tuesday said police were aware of the graffiti but no case had yet been opened.
She added that the graffiti was "definitely new".
Around 25 to 30 road signs had been defaced with various forms of the party's name and slogan including: "AWB", "AWB War" and "777" - a form of the party's swastika-like emblem.
The signs were defaced with bright pink, blood red and black spray paint.
One large sign had the words "Fokken honde [Fucking dogs]" emblazoned in black spray paint.
Terre'Blanche's death angered the ultra-right wing party which blamed ANC Youth League president Julius Malema for inciting racial hatred by singing a struggle song containing the words "shoot the boer".
The party, which had been largely silent in recent years, said on Tuesday that its numbers had grown since its leader's death.
