Cape Town - Alleged Absa hacker Johannes Jacobus Fourie on Monday made his second appearance in Bellville magistrate's court in connection with fraud reportedly involving R500 000.
Fourie, 35, of Ridgeworth, appeared before magistrate Clive Linden, who remanded him in custody until August 11.
That is when a bail application may be launched on Fourie's behalf.
Defence counsel Sakkie Maartens told the court he needed an extra week to consult with his client thoroughly so as not to present the court on Monday with a "half-baked" bail application.
Maartens said he understood the application would be opposed and extra research by the defence was essential.
Prosecutor Anthony Stephen of the local directorate for public prosecutions said the State had no objection to the postponement.
Maartens said the application would be launched on August 11 if there was a court available, failing which the defence said the application would be launched on August 14.
Fourie is alleged to have defrauded at least 10 Absa clients of more than R500 000 between May 12 and July 18 after gaining access to their electronic banking accounts.
