Cape Town - Researchers from across the continent converged on Cape Town on Sunday for the start of the second African conference on social aspects of HIV/Aids research.
The four-day event, which has also drawn experts from Europe and the United States, is co-ordinated by the Human Sciences Research Council.
Its goal is to brief researchers, policy and decision makers, donors and other interested people in the work of the Social Aspects of HIV/Aids Research Alliance, an African network.
Among the issues that will be touched on at the conference are the adequacy of HIV/Aids responses in heavily affected southern African countries, Aids orphans, stigmatisation, and Aids and human rights.
