Aircon blamed for Randburg gas leak

2012-04-13 12:55

Johannesburg - A gas leak at an office block in Randburg might have originated in the air conditioning system, Johannesburg Emergency Metro Services said on Friday.

About 1 000 people had to be evacuated from the building, which houses JDG Financial Services, Netcare911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said.

Eight people were injured, five of them seriously.

One of them is still in a critical condition and is getting chest X-rays, said Johannesburg EMS's Synock Matobako.

Hazmat teams checked the air conditioner as the possible source of the leak, and also checked the server room.

The gas leak is actually someone farting in the air conditioning system

      rbphiri - 2012-04-13 13:03

Did you know that the average human fart contributes to global warming by approximately 2.3%...if you think I'm making this up, pull my finger.

Is there any actual evidence that this leak was caused by the Aircon? Only in the last paragraph does it say that Hazmat teams checked the Aircon as well as the server room as POSSIBLE sources.....the title of this article is very misleading. Can anybody give me information regarding the real reason for this gas leak?
