Cape Town - Alcohol with an estimated value of R120 000 has been confiscated from an illegal supplier in Gugulethu, Cape Town police said on Wednesday.

Three police van loads of alcohol were confiscated and the owner, who supplied various shebeens in the Gugulethu area, was arrested on Tuesday, said Captain Elliot Sinyangana.

The owner did not have a licence to supply the alcohol.

On the same day, about 15 minutes later, police arrested a 34-year-old woman allegedly with one huge bag filled with compressed dagga and four bags filled with 320 parcels of dagga.

The dagga had an estimated street value of R36 000.

The woman would face a charge of possession of dagga.

It looks like the police did a stock-take. Gugulethu was gearing up for New Year celebrations. Oh well, that's a small dent in the revelry. Some other entrepreneur will fill the gaps.
