Johannesburg - A man has been killed in a shoot-out with police after robbing a butchery in Rabie Ridge near Midrand, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.
Captain Pinky Tsinyane said the man and four others held up employees at a butchery at gunpoint on Monday, demanding cash.
A bystander who saw the robbery called for help as the robbers were leaving the butchery.
A group of residents chased the robbers and arrested one of them. One robber started shooting at police and was killed when police returned fire.
The other three robbers ran away and were still being sought.
