Johannesburg - The national union of metalworkers, Numsa, is slowly but surely being shunned by the ANC and Cosatu following the union’s decision to cut political ties with the ruling party.

According to the Sunday Independent, Numsa leaders were excluded from a top Cosatu delegation that met the ANC and SACP last week.

The tripartite alliance met in Mpumalanga last week to develop a common election campaign. Numsa however was noticeably absent.

Numsa resolved late last year to distance itself from the alliance and not to actively campaign for the ANC. The union has however been accused of plotting a collusion with Julius Malema’s controversial Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party.
