London - Pop singer Anastacia is to launch a campaign to inform young women about breast cancer.
The 29-year-old singer went through seven hours of surgery to remove a cancerous lump in her breast in February.
She urges all women - not just those over 40 - to get their breasts checked.
She told NOW magazine: "It's a disease that affects all of us, and we have to be more aware.
"I think all girls, no matter what their age, should take a second and go get a mammogram."
The US singer added: "I'd like to start a foundation that offers people information about breast cancer. It's something that's really needed."
"A lot of people think breast cancer is a shameful disease because it attacks a feminine part of a woman. "But I don't feel less attractive because I've had cancer." - Ananova.com
