Angry mob attacks robber

Durban - A house robber was beaten to death at the weekend after he was caught "red-handed" breaking into a home, police said on Monday.

Superintendent Daniela Veldhuizen said the incident took place in Umlazi's M Section on Saturday.

"A homeowner caught the robber and made a citizen's arrest," she said.

While waiting for police to pick up the robber, a mob of residents attacked the man and severely beat him.

"He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries," said Veldhuizen.

Police are investigating a case of murder.
