Cape Town - Shrien Dewani is a coward who didn’t have the guts to face his late wife’s family in court, says Anni Hindocha’s mother.

Dewani landed in London on Wednesday after Western Cape High Court Judge Jeanette Traverso ruled in favour of his application to be discharged of killing Hindocha, his wife of just two weeks.

Traverso found that the State’s case against him was not strong enough.

She said the prosecutors' arguments had "fallen far below" the level needed to secure a conviction, paving the way for Dewani to walk free without mounting a defence.

But Anni’s mother, Nilam Hindocha told the Daily Mail Dewani is a coward for seeking to have the case dropped and not having “the guts” to face up to her family.

She called him a coward in court, and said Dewani was also a coward on the night her daughter was killed.

Nilam said there was no sign Dewani put up a fight for Anni on 13 November 2010, the night she died.

Anni’s sister Ami Demborg said just after the ruling that they will be haunted by what’s happened for the rest of their lives, reported News24.

“We waited patiently for four years to hear what really happened to Anni, and to hear the full story of what happened,” she told reporters outside the Western Cape High Court.

“We came here looking for the truth, and all we got, was more questions.

“We just wanted to hear all the events, and the hope of actually finding that out has kept us going as a family.

Meanwhile, white paint was thrown onto the driveway of Shrien Dewani’s house in Bristol, reported the BBC.
