Cape Town - The body of a 19-year-old Cape Town teenager was
found in a neighbour's flat in Kraaifontein on Saturday, as the funeral for murdered
teenager Anene Booysen was under way in Bredasdorp.
The Cape Times reported on Monday that the decomposing body
of Ge-Audrey Green was found in the drawer under a bed. A 21-year-old man, who
was known to her and her family, has been arrested as a suspect.
Police believe she was raped and then strangled, but the
results of a post-mortem have not yet been released.
The suspect's parents live in the flat, but were not at home
at the time of the alleged crime. His mother called the police when they
returned home on Saturday and discovered Green's body.
Green was last seen on Wednesday and the alarm was raised
when she failed to return home on Thursday.
A prayer service was held at Green's home on Sunday. Western
Cape MEC for Community Safety, Dan Plato, attended the service.
Her aunt, Ronette Green, said the suspect had been good
friends with her.
"The mother is emotional. She wants to know what
happened to her daughter. She wants to know why [she was] killed.
"I can’t imagine how she looked. Even the policeman who
came here to tell us said it was not a pretty face to see. I could see from the
hurt in his eyes that it was bad.
“This must stop. We see these things happen every weekend,”
Green told the newspaper.
