Bloemfontein - Another man has been arrested in connection with an alleged rightwing plot to instigate acts of terror in South Africa, it was reported on Thursday.

The 31-year-old man was expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on a charge of high treason on Thursday, Volksblad reported.

He was reportedly arrested in Aberdeen on Tuesday.

Four other men, who are believed to be part of a conspiracy to start acts of terror, have already appeared in court.

Hein Boonzaaier, 50, of Centurion, was granted bail of R80 000 last week. Martin Keevy, 47, of Bloemfontein, Johan Prinsloo, 49, of Naboomspruit and Mark Trollip, 49, of Douglas, were denied bail.

They were arrested on December 16, the Day of Reconciliation, for apparently planning to blow up an eating hall used by high-profile ANC leaders at the party’s national elective conference in Mangaung.
