Army expands hospital deployment
Johannesburg - The SA National Defence Force has expanded its deployment to 61 hospitals to blunt the effects of the public sector strike.
This raises the number of hospitals seeing deployments by four, from the 57 announced on Sunday, SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said in a statement on Tuesday.
Mpumalanga had deployments at 14 hospitals, Gauteng at 11 hospitals and Limpopo at nine. The North West, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State each had army staff at seven hospitals. The Eastern Cape had four and the Northern Cape had two deployments.
There were no military personnel in Western Cape hospitals.
